A suite of play areas were delivered to tight deadlines, consultation with childrens’ groups and under Play England’s guidelines to promote natural play and challenge. Photos illustrate the use of climbing boulders, maze mounds, river crossings and innovative equipment. The ‘before’ and ‘after’ shots show one play area’s transformation despite restricted costs and physical constraints. Dudley MBC was seen as the lead authority in England and Wales in meeting the deadlines and criteria.
